Great North Collective is an open community of Canadian researchers, engineers, companies, builders, and institutions working together to advance sovereign AI in Canada.
We believe Canada should control its own AI future — the models, the data, the infrastructure, and the values that shape them. We focus on:
- Open-source models and datasets
- Canadian data sovereignty and privacy realities
- Northern and remote infrastructure challenges
- Reducing reliance on foreign AI platforms
- Collaboration across universities, startups, governments, and individuals
